Paws and Play Secret Santa Special Edition Holiday Box + Discount Codes

Paws and Play is a pet subscription company based out of Canada. I have been subscribed to them for a couple of months on behalf of my 55lb AmStaff Gertie Goo. I wanted to order something to put under the tree for her and when I saw that Paws and Play had themed boxes for that very thing I was estatic!

Priced at $24.95 there are options for small, medium and large dogs as well as kitties.

Also offered by Paws and Play are various monthly pet subscription boxes for dogs, cats or a mixed pet households. Lots of fun options.

Let's take a closer look at the Secret Santa box. As always there is a lot of pitty excitement involved!

The requisite info sheet...

First is the Simply Fido Organic Plush Toy. Stated purchase price is $19.95.

Here is what I am learning with my dog and plush toys, she loves them... a lot. She is so excited when she gets one in a box. HOWEVER, she can capitalize on every ball, thin spot or loose string and damage the toy. I spend A LOT of time mending toys that last perhaps 3 minutes. The pom pom and toes on Mr. Penguin held out for 4 minutes before I had to pull it away. The hat and feet were next for destruction.

Every box I have ordered from Paws and Play have contained a plush toy - I hope that they expand the toy offerings.

The toy is sweet and Gertie Goo loved it - too much. She's collected a pile of mended plush toys in the past 3 months.

Next is the Holistic Select Holiday Biscuits. Retails for $8.95.

Chicken, Cranberries, Sweet Potato and Blueberries. Wheat free and a 1lb bag!

She was finicky the first time I tried the biscuits and after trying them a couple of times discovered they are a no go for her.

Third items was Etta Says! Crunchy Duck Chew.  Retail price is $2.95.

She loves to eat these... Enough said.

Gone in one bite. And yes, I took it out of the wrapper first.

On the whole I thought this was a really sweet box. While a couple of items were a "miss", I realize that not everything will be 100% successful for every dog.  It shipped a few weeks ago but I held on to it until Christmas morning.

Paws and Play Puppies Love Panties Special Edition Gift Box Plus Discount Codes

Paws and Play frequently offer special edition boxes and I've ordered a few. This time they have partnered with Panty by Post (an undergarment subscription service) to provide a box. I wasn't all that interested at first but when it went on sale and then I received a $5 discount code I decided to order it.

My feelings are mixed. She was pretty excited nonetheless!

Inside was 1 Bosco & Roxy's Tighty Whites Cookie. The information sheet says it should have been a 3 pack but unfortunately we did not receive all. That said the one cookie went over well. Stated cost for 3 cookies is $8.95 so 1 cookie is about $3.

 Next was the Multipet Sea Shammy texturized Plush Toy. She wasn't interested in it. Also, she'd destroy it quickly so I will regift it. Stated price is $8.95, available online for $5.49.

I did actually give it to a friend's dog  who liked it. Lily is much more gentle.

 A Silver Spur Buffalo Pizzle - Yes that went over very well. Stated price is $4.95.

 Trumps Choice Rewards Treats in Roast Chicken flavour. Stated price is $4.95 - I've purchased the same brand at Winners for $2.99. She loves them and I love them for training.

There is a Panty by Post coupon for $10 off your purchase of $100 or more with the provided code. Thing is, it is for 1st time purchases only and by signing up online at any point and providing your email address you can get $10 off a $50 purchase. I went through the process of ordering $100 of items and put in the coupon code, $10 was deducted but no free items appeared in my shopping bag so I don't know how the free item mechanism works. Regardless, $10 off $100 is less appealing than $10 off $50.

I also received the exact same code in the Toy subscription box - Not much of an add on to this special edition box.

So... Is there anything else? Maybe...

Would I recommend this box? I got it for $8.95 (with sales and discounts) so it was well worth that... Just disappointed in the panty discount and the missing items.

Memebox Black Friday Special Edition #4 + Discount Codes

In my research into various subscription box offerings I stumbled across a Korean beauty site called Memebox. Very popular with many people, it offers collection boxes, individual skin care and make up items as well. Collection boxes are usually themed and most often contains full sized items.

I ordered one for my niece as a Christmas gift and one for myself to give it a try. The thing I've found with the boxes is that they are very popular or in very limited supply as they sell out  quickly.

Here's the thing you have to understand. Labeling is in Korean so they usually include an English card or a link to the item list (in English) so you know what you are getting. Also - ingredients can be... unusual. Read on... One or two items may make you say "Huh".

This Black Friday Special Edition #4 contains beauty skin care products. Five full-sized items to be exact.

As you can tell from the picture it appears that all items are full sized. That seems promising.

First up is A.H.C. miracle multi cream. It has a balm like texture with a small spatula to remove from the tub. Very pleasant lightly scented citrus. A little goes a long way.

Next is Cheekroom Lip & Eye Remover - Let's hope it doesn't remove my eyes and lips and just the makeup on it!

I tried it tonight - no smell at all and a couple of pumps is plenty!

Snail Mucin and Bee Venom! I looked it up and every review claims this product is incredible. I don't understand it but I'm going to try it!

MistoBox Subscription Service Intro - Coffee! (Discount Code too)

Yep... I am still exploring different subscription box options. I have subscribed to beauty, pet and food boxes.

I am a coffee addict... A very committed coffee addict. I've been exploring options available on the web. There are great local coffee bean roasters in Halifax but I always like to keep looking, searching for different roasts, styles and flavours. I tweeted out about 2 months ago asking people if they've ever tried coffee bean subscriptions and MistoBox kindly offered to send me some to try. I'm not silly... Of course I took them up on it!

They directed me to a new website to test drive and decided to select 4 smaller bags to try different beans. The site asks you some questions to better help guide what gets sent to you. Pretty sleek!

They did not ask me to review the product in exchange for the free coffee but I thought it might be interesting to others how the service works and the quality of beans supplied by MistoBox.

Their website has lots of tips for brewing beans using different methods (French Press, Aeropress, Chemex for example). In addition to the coffee subscription there is a shop to buy coffee equipment and beans of course.

I decided to select the Awesome package with 4-50 grams bags of whole coffee beans. Mistobox leads you through a number of questions to refine your coffee tastes and match you with a coffee curator who will select coffee on your behalf.

First up is Ruby Coffee Roasters with their Colombia Union Narino. Floral aromatics, tart blackberry, honey sweetness and a lingering cocoa finish.

Second is Coava Coffee Roasters with Honduras Las Capucaas. Dominated by baker's chocolate, complimented by red currant.

I ground the Coava and had 3 cups this morning - It was mild and delicious.

Third package was Bow Truss Coffee Roasters and their Sumatra Sidikalang Tabu Jamu. These beans are typically processed using the "semi-washed method" giving earthy, herbal and molasses like flavours.

The final packet was the Ethiopia Kochere from Portola Coffee Lab. Delicate with subtle fruits like peaches and nectarines.

I plan on subscribing for a 3 month stint to see if a) the coffees are truly excellent b) is it worth the $. I am very interested in trying all different kinds of beans and roasters so this may be an excellent way of doing it.

I'll keep you posted.

PS. They recommend using 16.5g of coffee for every 265g of water for the perfect cup of coffee.

December 2014 PawPak Overview & Coupon Code

Christmas and the Holiday Season is upon us all and Goo is wondering about the tree and what the fuss is all about. Meantime, every box that arrives is met with a sniff and supervision upon opening.

Friday she got her own package. Hello December PawPak! A Canadian company based in Woodstock Ontario. From their website:

"The products change each month, but usually include 5-7 amazing items designed to make life with your doggy a little easier!"

Blogging about the experience is hard too - she needs to supervise EVERYTHING!

Upon opening the box we realized that it was jam packed full of goodies for "The Goo".

First item up is the Blueberry Frosty Paws from Amelia Biscuit out of Paris, Ontario.

Pssst.  That's going in Goo's sock for Christmas morning.


What is this???  Rawhide Candy Cane?

Wait... What?

Two rawhide candy canes!!  From Burgham Sales Ltd in Scarborough, ON.

Patience is NOT her virtue.

A lot of time is spent training her on leash for a gentler walk so treats are a big help. Purebites Freeze Dried Turkey Breast treats are right up her alley!

The fourth item in the box was the Paw Protection Balm from DuSenza located in St. Lamber, Quebec.

Just before walking your dog, rub the balm inside the paws and on the pads. The balm will harden once outdoors to protect against salt, calcium, cold, snow and ice. You can wipe it off once you come in again. Great for callouses and dry skin. MA Approved.

Last up is a rope toy. Goo loves them but is really hard on them.  You'll see.

 You can also see the cute flannel scarf included in the box. 

This rope toy is from Zanies in Beverly, MA. It's super cute and she went right for it. The product card indicates it is for aggressive chewers. It lasted longer than most toys but 18 hours later (of which 17 of it was spent sleeping or doing other things), this happened...

What I notice is that she can figure out the vulnerability of any fabric toy and dismantle it. The circle is unhurt as of now but the inner portion... destroyed. She loves the ring though so not a disappointment at all.

Seriously, if anyone wants a tester... She can figure out rope toys like a champ.

As always there are 2 rolls of Eco Sense poop bags. Lavender scented.. Thank goodness! These are the go-to brand in this household.
