Camino de Santiago Day 12-What the devil have I been doing all this time??

Walking...

Yep walking...

About 235kms of it.

Let's catch up shall we?

I was delayed out of London to Madrid, missing the train to Leon. Found a bus which got me to the Albergue in Leon at 500am. I started to walk with Krista at 630am, that's about 45 minutes of sleep before a 20km hike.

Making good choices already!

The hike out was met with a thunder, lightening and rain storm... I was thrilled!!

Each day thus far has been a study in contrasts for me. Moments of pure energy followed by exhaustion. I think that's my lot for this... And I don't mind it a bit.

Today was the walk from Portomarin to Palas de Rei. Beautiful weather-check. Healthy legs and feet-check. Lots of cafe con leche-check.

I walked with a South African/Australian, a Spaniard, and a Canadian. Each had different interests but we all had the same look on our face... Joy.

Buen Camino!

Camino de Santiago Day 1 minus 1

So here I sit in the Madrid airport getting ready to board a bus for 4 hour bus ride to Leon, Spain. Delays in Heathrow meant Linda and I missed the train.

Make the best of it I say. So the bus it is!  People have been lovely. Flights (with the exception of delays) have been uneventful.

What time will be roll into Leon? 4am. Will we be leaving on our pilgrimage tomorrow?  Yup.

Might as well start it off with a challenge!

Buen Camino!

Camino de Santiago Catch All - Ride this Journey with me!

Wondering if there's a spot to see all the updates while I'm on The Way of St. James?

Following Krista's lead, I decided to have a place that will capture my Twitter and Instagram feeds from the Camino.  Updates will be sporadic but they'll come.

I have decided to hashtag my tweets and photos as #caminotwitlori for ease of searching

Instagram (as pitcherplantnl) Twitter (as pitcherplantnl)
One of the many training faces to get to the Camino.

Cheers and Buen Camino!

It's not long now! Camino de Santiago Awaits

After my less than joyful last post on my voyage to hiking adventures I thought it might be a good idea to refresh myself and take a critical look at my thoughts when I wrote that entry. More specifically to gauge how I feel now.

How do I feel now???

Grateful

Nervous

Excited

Undercaffinated

PS... That last one is a zinger.

Not everyone has the luxury of time, friends, money and the physical ability to take on a trip like this.

But I do...

No one really knows how long we have to get out there and do shit so instead of moaning I'm going to do some living.

I hope you join me via this blog, twitter and facebook.

I guarantee it won't be dull.

I have bail money set aside for it.

Buen Camino!
